1. The genre of the music by Bloc Party is Indie music.

2. The target audience is between the ages of 16-30. They are targeted by an image which makes the audience make up their mind themselves. They are targeted by the use of iconography.

3. The iconography is successful again, because the colours are black and white which follows the iconography of a typical indie band. The artists name is very clear on the album cover on the top of the page. On most indie albums is the name of the artist clear on the top of the album. Usually in white writing on a black background.

1. The genre of the band The XX is Indie.

2. The target audience is from between the ages of 16-30. They are targeted by people who are familiar with the band and know who they are. This is shown by the plain colours used, black and white.

3. The iconography is very successful because the colours of the album is very plain, black and white. The main focus is not on the name of the album or the band themselves. This follows the iconography because not many bands focus on their own image or the album title.

Tuesday 16/11 (3rd day of filming)

We got all the equipment we needed which was the camera and the stand, plus all the cast we needed to be in this particular scene together before we set off to our location. We then set off to our location which was marsh green park. We did this after school because we needed to film when it was dark outside. As we got to the park we set up the camera and set up and all the cast into the positions in which we wanted them for our first shot. The first shot was an establishing shot, where the main character walked into the shot whilst being followed, then getting followed by additional people. In this shot, it consisted of the main character being followed. We took other shots which consisted of the same thing but the shots were different. Other establishing shots whilst the cast were walking towards the camera. Other shots included, a pan shot which followed the character down the pathway where he was being closely followed.

Monday 15/11 (2nd day of filming)

We picked up our camera and set off to boothroyd hall which is another location of where we wanted to film a particular scene. At this scene, we had to plug in the camera because the battery was very low. By plugging it into the mains, we was able to take shots of the main character walking on to stage and being on stage. We took a various amount of shots at different angles of the character. After shooting these shots, we was going to film the character walking up some stairs which was at a different location not far from the hall. However, when we took the camera out of the mains and went to the next location and set up the camera in the position we wanted to use it, we was unable to film because the battery had died. This ruined the rest of the plans for shooting this day. This meant that we had to re-arrange another day to film this scene.

First day of filming 10/11

At the start of the day, we picked up the camera and and tripod stand for the camera and set off on our way. The first thing we did was have a look at the location of one of our other scenes whilst it was light out. This scene being in the park. This scene we want to be filmed in the dark, so looking at it in the light gave us a good rough idea of where we would be able to shoot. After getting to the park, we came up with the idea of having CCTV in our video. We saw a particular angle in which we could shoot this footage. This was by the entrance of the park, where we can film the character entering the park being followed as well as walking through the park. After scouting the location, we headed back to stacey's house ready to start filming at our first location. At the first location, we set up the camera in her bedroom, and made the room dark with the only light coming from a lamp which wasn't in the shot. We began filming with our first shot which was a mid shot on the character singing. The first shoot was unsuccessful and had to be re-shoot this shot several times. After this a successful full shoot of this shot, we moved onto the next shot which was a close up on the character singing. This was a full shot of the character singing as well as the mid shot of the character before. The shot after that, was a side shot of the character singing too. After filming all of the shots of the character singing, we had another shot on a digital alarm clock. In this shot was a close up on the time which is films the time changing from 6:59 to 7:00.

Final Idea and Storyboarding

Yesterday, me and my group met up with one another to talk about our final idea and get an understanding of where and when we was going to shoot. We came up with Stacey's house for one of the shots for the character to sing at. This would take place in the bedroom on the bed. Another would be filmed in a park where we would shoot a group of people following our main character through the park. This would be at night time to add the specific effect we want to have.

Final Idea 3/11/2010

We finally decided on our final idea after a long discussion of various different story lines. The idea which we finally came up with was at the start there is an image which is fading in and out which goes with our chosen track. After this there will be a male character which will be walking through the park being followed by a lot of different people. Whilst this is going on, the male character will be singing the song at various points. During the time of which he is being followed, people in the background end up disappearing, whilst this happens, the shot will change to another shot, where the people who were following him end up minding there own business, and the audience can see that they have their own problems which they care about. This process happens throughout the video, where at the end their is nobody following him. At this point, he is entering a building where he prepares for a performance. Then, he steps onto stage in front of the microphone, where there is no audience.

How have you used web page conventions to create brand identity?

Logo production; My logo is a plain black and white image which consists of a drummer. It was drawn in publisher by myself. I used a drummer because it was relevant to the genre of music which I have chosen. The font is plain and doesn't look too fancy because the genre of music has plain text. The image was black and white because the genre's iconography is of plain colours, such as black and white. Bands such as the xx and the kooks have black and white logos. Following the iconography of the genre of music which I have chosen, I chose to stick to these conventions by creating a similar logo which mates the conventions.
